G5 striker broke

I shot a new striker at an elk and missed unfortunately but when I went to pick it up it was buried in the dirt. I pulled it to find it broke clean off at the threads. For a ten dollar broadhead that shouldn't happen even when hitting a rock, but shooting into soft dirt?

Are you aware that G5 bodies are a CAST stainless, not a machined stainless from the wrought form. If you were to look at a G5 body cross section under the microscope you would see that it looks very porous like a sponge. Bodies that are machined from a wrought bar have a more compacted, uniform look when viewed under the scope with little to no porosity. The porosity makes for a weaker finished product. Thats also why the G5 Montec does not get as sharp as a blade made from sheet stock.

I just ran a striker through an elk on Friday and was very happy with the results. I hit the edge of her shoulder going in and still busted through the other side. All in all the head did a great job and held up great. I will try and get some pics posted or something. Anyhow just thought I would let ay know. This is my first year of going back to a fixed head and I am a big fan of G5 heads!!!
