Any pointers tips, ideas on fishing around Ft. Worth? We are heading down for spring break and have a day or 2 free for some fun. Thinking about a DIY fishing for bass, or cats etc. Have looked at a guided family fishing trip, not sure if we want to pay $500 for a day. But might want to try some shore fishing…

Anyone have any pointers? Anyone in the area willing to help out?

A lot of lakes in the Ft Worth area. There’s Lewisville, grapevine and eagle mountain that are very close. Many others with a little more driving. Eagle mountain has been producing some good bass lately. If you drive about 1-1/2 hrs north, there is lake Texoma. The striper fishing had been good this winter and they are feeding heavily with the warming weather before heading up the rivers to spawn. I know quite a few striper guides on the lake.

If you want, send me a message here or on FB

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department list Community Fishing Lakes which are smaller lakes accessible for bank fishing and typically stocked with catfish.

I've heard the Ross Perot Museum is a neat place for kids.
