From Brown to White?

How long does it take for an elk shed to go from brown to white? What about deer? Same? Im guessing weather might have something to do with it. Im new to this shed thing so this could be a really stupid question.

sunlight has the most to do with it, if it is well shaded it should stay brown for as long as you keep it out of the sun, if its out in the open you see noticable lightening in the color in just a couple of months and they will be all but white in a year or so
