I just recently started shed hunting. My kids(8&10) really enjoy getting out and looking, so it works out good. We went out this weekend to an area we've found a few before. Always have been singles. Well, my son was actually the one who spotted the first shed. It was a decent 3 point with the back tine measuring just under 12 inches. Well that got him going. My daughter was bummed though. Well the shed was sitting just past a fence on a trail. So we decided to follow it. About 50 yards down the trail we came across the other half. The back tine measures 12 inches on the dot. We walked a little while longer and my daughter found a forky shed. So they were pretty jacked up!! It was a great time and they're chompin' at the bit to get back out...gotta love it!!

Nice to hear you're taking your kids along with you, sounds like they have a great time, I'm thinking of taking my daughter out with me sometime soon - she's 5, but don't know how long she'll be able to walk. How long can your kids hold up while hiking?

Good job! My kids love hunting for sheds too my son is a little more enthusiastic than my daughter but there is no better way to spend a day and its great excercise to boot. Don't be discouraged when you don't find much my son and I looked for three hours one day and found only four sheds then found an area where we picked up 20 in one hour including a nice 7 point and a five point with a 6" drop tine. I will try to get some pictures off of those in the next couple days. You have to put in the time to find the tines.

I haven't really pushed them too hard. We usually only go out for a couple hours, take some snacks and have a good time. I don't think we've hiked more than 1 1/2 to 2 miles. They seem to alright with that.Just getting out and spending time with them is a blast.

Thanks for the info FM.
