Last year in early fall... FMP had their DVD release on the big Screen at Brewvies. It was similar to a Warren Miller ski movie release. In fact very similar setting... 100 people all packed into a theater... Giveaways.... hats, t-shirts... etc. Loved the event... look forward to the next one. It was nice to have a crowds reaction as a big buck bounced away in the opening shoots... Sorta like a teaser.
The film showed some dedicated hunters on their quest to all take a good buck in the high country. I realized then... that if I wanted to get a good buck... I needed to be in the field more. They also showed a few practice sessions in the natural settings. I thought what an awesome idea as well. These guys are hard-core and are having a blast showing it off for others to view. I really liked the night-time hunts... missed shots... busted ambushes....long, tired cold blizzardy stalks that they showed.
Too many times you see hunting porn... with an animal in view and a guy stalking it for a less than a few minutes and Whack. It;s over.
To me half the fun of hunting is all the prep work, pratice, gear buying, picture taking, overnight campouts, story swapping, reading, and video watching. It's the connection I share with several close friends and relatives.
FMP is anothers hunters way of showcasing this. I look forward to seeing more preparation that they go through... missed opportunites... failed stalks, disappoinments, along with the highlights.... all so in the end... the hunter got his buck. And damn, that makes for a great story.
To just get a shot at the master of disguise, MULE DEER. You've got to have your game on. Doing it with a camera crew... Even more challenging.
Good Work, Anthony.
Look forward to you next premiere.
