I'm antelope hunting mid Sept and have always wanted to catch a laker so I thought I may hit the gorge on the way up or back.
Is mid Sept a decent time to catch lakers?

Yep it is. Boat or off shore? On a boat that is prime time for jigging for monster lakers. You could probably still be able to find some koks trolling as well.

not a very good chance at all of catching a big lake trout off the bank. Also the same with the kokes but if you are fishing off of a boat all kokenee must be released after sept 10th

There are a few good guides one the lake for lake trout. Hopefully you can hook into one. They are a lot of fun. If you can try and find one that Jigs for them rather then trolling for them. IMO that is a lot more fun.

I completely agree that jiggin for them is way more fun and can be way more productive that time of the year. Also if you have never caught a kok in spawning colors it is really a sight to be seen they are gorgeous that time of year.

Caught my share of Kokanee, but that place grows them like I didn't know they grew! I'd almost have to mount a 5lb hookjaw spawning colored Kokanee!
