I'm thinking of putting a fixed 6x power scope on my new tikka t-3 in 308. Right now I put my 3-9 zeiss on it so I could shoot it, but the whole idea of this rifle was a light weight, no frills, less things to worry about back packing rifle. What do ya guys think??? Should I go with a fixed power or a light weight variable?

P.S. Probably would'nt be shooting over 300yds.

If huntin is a sport.....Well your lookin at an athlete!

I would never have a fixed power but that is just my opinion. I won't have less than 3x9 either. I really like the 4x12 I have on a few guns.

I have a fixed 6x 56mm scope on my 7 mag and it came with the rifle when I bought it. It's a German Jaegermeister and a damn good scope, but there's times I wish I had lower power in the thick stuff. I also just bought a Tikka T3 Lite in 300 WSM and topped it with a Burris Fullfield 2x7. Great groups and the whole outfit weighs something like 7 lbs 4 oz. I think I picked up the scope on EBay for about 150 bucks. Not top of the line, but I like it.
