Went out today for a few hours in some whitetail country in Colorado. Too early for the muleys, but I was hoping some river rats had dropped. Lo and Behold, I found my best whitetail right off the bat.
I spent the next couple of hours searching for his mate with no luck. If his other side matched, and given a 15 inch inside spread, he would score about 139. I decided to search a small piece of bottom before heading back to the truck and forgot all about my previous find.
I couldn't believe what I was looking at. After a few pics and jumping around, I looked up to see if I could find the other side. Right on the other side of the trail was this.
This buck was fantastic, by far my best. It has 25 and 23 inch main beams, 41.5 INCHES OF MASS, and with a 16 inch inside spread scores 182 2/8. As you can see, in another month, the grass would have swallowed these treasures up. They still had a little blood and the wax rings. Check out the eyegaurd on the right side. I can only hope the rest of my season is half as good. Enjoy.
