Found my first dead head along the Rio Grande river this weekend. It has a one inch drop coming off his left beam. Just a fork horn but pretty cool. Still has velvet on it as well. I think it was a lion kill!
I have actually had some dead heads with skin like that which was able to boil off. it took a little longer but it worked. I've never tried beetles before.
I had a friend do a euro for me on a head my dog brought home that was pretty old. she made me hack the skin off but it came out looking good in the end
