Finding the other side

I am pretty new to shed hunting, and have picked up a few sheds. I found a nice antler that I want to find the other side. I searched the general area where I found the one side. This buck bedded under a cedar ten yards from a cliff that drops off in front of him. I found the one side in his bed. How close in proximity are the antlers usually? What are the odds of finding the other side?

I usually go through the same process everytime I find a shed but to be honest I usually only find the match 1 out of 9 times. I have heard of situations where deer bed down and stay put for two or three days and people move in on the area in the late spring and match up every single antler but it's extremely rare.

I find it alot easier or higher odds in whitetails than mulies. I'm usually pretty excited to find a muley match if that tells you anything. It happens and I try, but often do not find the other side.

It's a lot less likely these days, with folks out hunting antlers starting in January. The deer are generally pushed around quite a bit. I still match up quite a few sets each year, though.

i tell you, give me a call and I will help you look for the other side!!
Just kidding, I would stay away from the cliff (he he) and maybe find the trail he was using to feed, water from the bedding area.

Take some Poin Dexter with you that's never been before and don't even care that much and they'll find it for sure - least that's the way it always works for me!
