Field point "tip"

This is probably well known to long time bowhunters, but someone gave me a tip for shooting field tips that comes in handy. It has to do with having to screw the tips back in after each shot because they come loose when they hit the target.

Roll the threads of the field points in bow wax, then screw them in as usual. They don't come unscrewed with the wax on them.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-26-05 AT 12:17PM (MST)[p]I am right handed and own a pair of vice grips. Never thought of using them on the tips. Probably work ok if you are careful, but then with the wax working well, I will probably stick with that. Also, with the wax, it is really easy to unscrew them and change tips by hand in the field.

Right offset/helical will solve the problem too. Or a dot of silicone works too.
