for pure speed what is the fastest bow out Right now?
The BowTec advertises 325 to 350.
I know arrow weight and length of draw affect speed,
and for hunting accuracy and quietness mean more, but
was wondering what people are getting out of their bows.

I do not have the fastest bow. I have a very good bow, it just has a problem in the shooter :) I shoot a Mathews Switchback, I have a 28" draw and shoot at 70 lbs with a 423 grain arrow. It is chronographed at 250 fps. I've been told they shoot in the 270's with a 30" draw and a hunting set up.

The Black Knight from Bowtech would be the fastest bow I believe.

The Mathews Black Max 2 ibo rating at 80% let off is rated at 330 fps,at 65% let off is rated 330 fps, and at 50% let off is rated at 340 fps, A quick and sweet bow!>>>>>>>>>>Sharlin

I shoot an Alpine Teton light, I had it firing between 310-315, When I had my bow really cranking them out it was very difficutlt to shoot accuartly, now I am down around 290 and its a dream to shoot.

I have the Darton Maverick and love it. It is a bit loud but it's the nicest shooting bow I've owned to date. It's very forgiving and a pleasure to shoot. Some silencers on the limbs and string make the noise managable. I'm not sure of my arrow weight but I get 257 fps out of it at 64# and a 27.5" draw length.

my Q2 is set at 70#, i shoot 478 grain arrows at 260. it seems a little slow some times but it shoots pretty sweet.

The August Issue of Bowhunting Magazine rated the top 10 fastest bows (how they chose these bow I don't know) and performed a test using the same draw length, poundage, and arrow (no fletching) also the ONLY thing added to these bows was a knocking point.

Bowtech Black Night 336
APA Black Mamba 330
Hoyt TurboTech 328
Mathews Black Max 2 326
Martin Slayr 315
PSE Mach 12 311
Darton Tempest Ext. 310
Alpine RVX 305
Person Pride 304
Renegade TR-4 302

Must be something about the word black.

My Mathews Legacy is turned up to 70lbs. 28 1/2 inch draw length. 375 grain arrow. It spits em out at 280 fps.

Just a note, the Alpine RVX isn't the top of the line Alpine, I wonder why they wouldn't test the Yukon, or the Denali, they are both faster bows.

The Bowtech Black Night dually is the fastest, but speed comes at a price--short brace heights and not so smooth cams. I found the perfect combo of speed and smoothness with the new Hoyt Protec cam.5. At 70#'s, 29" Draw, 350 Grain arrow I'm getting 294. 294 fps with an ultra forgiving 8-1/4" of brace height and 75% let off--what more could a guy ask for?!!!

I got the Matthews switchback and when I first got it. With my hunting arrows about 405 gr. at 56 pds it was shooting at 272 fps. I have a 30" draw. I used it for 3-D ing. I shoot way lighter arrows for that and I cranked my bow up to 66 pds. Have not chronographed it with the lighter arrows and cranked up.

I have an Allegiance doing 328 fps at 5 grains per pound. This is actual speed with peep and loop
