elk unit 58 diy hunt

I may apply for an area 58 elk tag and hunt, in October, the northwest portion of the Carter Mountain HMA and the Shoshone Natl Forest just south of the HMA. Can anyone tell me what the chances are to harvest a bull or cow on a diy hunt? Would also like to know deer harvest chances in this area as well? The deer area is 113. Thanks, Chak

I have a friend who lives up in the Cody area he says the deer are very few and far between. He said they do have some elk but it is a poor unit if you pull a string. He did say do have a problem with Griz up there and had a hunter injured by a bear last year.
