I can't make up my mind between 30 and 31. Which do you recommend and why?

Well then I'll have to recommend 31. Don't screw up my odds! I apply for 30 because a buddy of mine drew it a couple of years ago and had a good hunt. I wish I knew a good unit that I'd have a better chance of drawing. Just don't want to waste my points on a so-so unit.

To be honest, I live in Rock Springs and have been to both areas. I have seen more Elk in 31 than 30 and its easier to get on top of little mountain (area 31) than pine mountain (area 30). Just my opinion though. I really like area 31. Last year I went down there 4 times and didn't even have a license. I just love seeing all the deer and elk everywhere.

Shedfinder,
Pine mountain is not in area 30.

Area 30 is quaking aspen mountain. Area 32 is Pine Mountain.

There are still a few decent bulls running around those units. But they are a far cry from what they used to be.

Sorry, I didn't have my map with me at the time but your right. I would still put in for area 31
