well I am barely able to sit here in my dorm between classes and keep myslef from scanning the hillside for elk sheds. With the season fast approaching I think I am gonna start in two weeks with reports from biologists that they are starting to drop, I just cant take it. I might not even make it two weeks, lol. Just curious when everyone was gonna start looking for those elk sheds date wise. ALSO IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO POST PICS OF PREVIOUS YEARS ELK SHEDS THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

I'm ready to go too! Last year, on March 1, the bull of the woods shed his 6x7 rack in a local resident's yard, but the rest of the bulls kept their's for a few more weeks. Be careful you don't spook your bulls on to someone's land or scatter them because you couldn't wait.

I feel antsy too, but the above is good advice. Go out with some binoculars and admire them from afar. When the majority have shed then go in and pick um up. If its close to town or you have lots of guys watchin them than chances of this working are shot to he$$. Good luck. Be sure to post pics!

I usually start hitting the Elk grounds mid to late March. This is last year?s finds...

that broken elk shed in the back of the picture....is that two sheds one on top of the other or is that a non-typical elk shed you got there? if so can you put a better picture up of that shed?

Early April is good, unless there's a bunch of guys that will beat you to them!

Wish I could wait untill April too but you got to pretty much check on the honey holes every few days during the elk shed season. Otherwise, you do tend to miss out and everyone else picks em up.
