Elk Archery Permit ?

Folks, could someone either send me a link or direct me to where in the regs it speaks to elk units that allow you to purchase a type 9 permit once you've drawn a type 1 permit?

Doesn't work that way. Type 9 are archery only. I think what you mean are the Special Archery Seasons. You can hunt this season with archery tackle under a Type 1 license provided you purchase the archery license. Those exact areas and seasons wont be set until late April. Here is what they were for 2016 season. I don't think they usually change much. Hope this helps.

Just to "splain" it a little more. Type 1 tags are for rifle and other legal weapons. If you draw that tag and the unit number is listed in that Special Archery Season in that link, you can then buy the $35 Archery Permit that allows you to hunt with archery equipment within the early season dates shown in that section. There are units not showing in that section and that means that the only archery hunting in the early season is with a Type 9 Archery Only tag. Unit 38, 39, and 40 are three units in the Big Horns that do not allow any archery hunting in September unless you hold that Type 9 tag. I hope that helps you understand what you are asking about.

Topgun, you splained it to me a few years back here on mm's but I've been out of the WY game for a few years so couldn't recall. Thanks man! Praying for September archery elk in the bighorns but we'll see how it goes in the draw. Damn, just saying that makes me feel good!
