My son grabbed my camera this morning and snapped a few cool pics of a nice Northern California Blacktail.

My big Oak trees are raining acorns and the deer that live near my house have been chowing down.

Cool pics Kid!

HH, If i saw that buck on the ranch that i grew up on and hunted into my 30's, i'd be grabbing a gun instead of a camera!

Beautiful pic's, Thanks!!

Joey

HH,
That's very cool! I've never hunted blacktail...YET.
That buck looks really good to me! Is he a good one?
Thanks for sharing your sweet pics.

That is a good blacktail. That last pic of him jumping is awesome Harry.

As mentioned above, that is a smoker buck where i grew up and took probably close to 40 mature blacktails. Our Ranch and country to hunt though, just did not kick out a lot of deer any bigger than that guy.

I have hunted Blacktails though in a lot of different places and in my opinion, just to give a guy who hasn't hunted them before an idea, i'd say that this buck HH posted is about the muley equivalent, trophy wise, of a truly scored 170" type muley buck. A Nice one!! Love them Blackies!!

I would agree with that 170 comparison from my CA hunting days.

I never check the regulations to see when blacktail season ends. When they show up in the yard, I know it closed the day before. Never fails!
