deer and sheep draws

They’ll send out an email, probably early next week, that says whatever day is the last day to update your CC info, typically they’ll charge credit cards the next morning around 7-8am AZ time.

My gut is telling me today we should see a AZGFD social media post saying the credit card update is Tuesday next week and hits will start wednesday next week. All speculation on my part though lol

I would have to agree, either today or tomorrow we should get an email about updating credit due date.

My CC is set up to notify me of a hit through email. Here goes checking email every 15 minutes hoping to see one from Wells Fargo… 😂
Good luck guys!!!

My credit card is the same but I am convinced the notification does not work. I have not drawn a single tag this year. That damned CC email system has to be the culprit!

I’m right there with you. Lol
I lied about the every 15 minutes… I think I have checked it every 8 minutes so far. 😂

I’m going to be this guy…. How long until our portal is updated? I didn’t expect to draw and my card was hit. I’m dying to know which tag I drew.

I have no idea when it will hit the portal, but if I had to guess I would say by Friday.
That’s just a guess of how it went down when I drew in 2022.

I was right on the edge of drawing a tag based on last years odds, but no charge for me. Running out of hope now

Just a Junior Javelina tag for my grandson. I thought he would draw a Junior Deer with 4 points. :cautious:But, we're hunting, so that is fine by me!

Nothing for Me. 8 points for a 6 point hunt last year. Use to draw coues all the time. I think his name is Big Fin?...Put it all on BLAST in the name of content.

Got a $90 charge on card here’s the dilemma
Friend put in for late coues hunt & then a youth coues hunt on same application.
Which tag do you think they drew?
Wording in the Regs are kinda hard to understand about price charged for youth/regular hunts on same app.

They can’t be on the same app unless all applicants are youth. It would be a general tag. Youth fee only applies to an actual youth season not a reduced price for a general hunt.

Wow, the one year where I had a busy fall already planned...

I put in for a late Dec Muley tag in 27 (only choice) thinking no way I'd draw and boom, it happens. At the same time my dad drew a late Dec Coues tag (somewhere south) and son drew late November youth deer, along with both son/daughter drawing piggy tags. Not going to complain. After years and years of drawing almost nothing, I'm going to take it. Now to figure out how to break the news to the wife.

I've never stepped foot in 27 so I'm really looking forward to learning a new unit. Gonna be fun! Hoping for cold weather and a lot of rutting action.

Im gonna be that guy and ask if you think they are done hitting cards. Had what I thought was a sure thing for 2nd choice and not card hit. Whaaaa

26 I believe.
And this is why the early hunt is now 19-20 points .

My dad and I sat out with 19 this year on the early bab hunts due to other tag obligations. That point creep isn’t going anywhere unfortunately.

Of course I can't know for sure, but last year my card was charged 4 days after the "Last day to update CC" and lots of people on here were posting "it's over". Unless something is different this year then it's not over yet.

There’s a few rare occasions where they’ll have cards that get declined so they will run the next guy in line, but the vast majority of those “late charges” are guys who don’t know how to check their online banking for pending charges seeing a pending charge they’ve had all along move over to a finalized charge. Not saying that was your case, but that is what it typically is. It happens way less now then it did 10 years ago as guys are figuring it out over the years, but 10 years ago half the charges were “late hits” because no one knew what the heck they were doing when looking online.

I got hit for a SD deer tag yesterday but nothing from AZ.
Has anyone seen a sheep tag hit their cards yet?

Ok thanks yes they both were youth hunters we are thinking G&f charges the higher amount regardless of which tag they drew

That point guard is a double edge sword on hunts where a guy has just enough points to draw! You may not draw again because of the creep.
Its is good for a mistake, as with entering the wrong code.

“So you’re telling me there’s a chance. YEAH!”

I had 20 pts coming in this year...not looking good for a tag this year. I drew 12BW Late 4 years ago, I turned it back in for a wounded warriors hunter and restored my points with the Point Guard. My 90 yo Mom fell broke & her wrist about a week before the hunt and would likely have complications with surgery (I was taking turns taking care of her) and my wife had a total reverse shoulder replacement just before that having complications from associated Lupus issues. I still have friends calling me a dip$h#t today and that I would never draw it again. Super tough decision and maybe the wrong decision. They both chimed in and agreed with those that said for me to go hunt; looking back, while I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm good with my decision. Being worried about family back home would have been on my mind the whole time; I was offered to fly in spend a couple days, kill a buck and fly home, I felt this type of tag deserved more. I'm going to be 69 shortly and still in good health and shape. If it's in the Lord's plan for me it will be happen, if not, then that's in his HIS plan and I'm good with that too.
Good luck to you Cat's that drew you're tag looking forward to hearing about your hunts!

I drew 12 A West late 5 years ago with only 7 points . Sometimes You get lucky. Sometimes not. I now have 32 Sheep points. Good luck and get a 7 and a Half year old big boy like I did in My avatar ........................BULL!

Heck of a nice Buck, congrats and good luck in the draws Bull!

Still looking for the "I got boned in the draw" emoji 🤪 used to be able to get at least one tag in the family per year..... buutttt, I still have archery in December!

By the numbers:

  • 42,974: The total number of hunt permit-tags issued.
  • 209,320: The total number of those who applied for hunts or bonus points.
  • 168,863: The total number of applications submitted.

Thanks for the numbers. How does that compare to last year?

What are the chances of any leftover rifle tags for adults?
Since there has been no mention yet from the AZGFD about any leftover permits and July 8th would be the first day they would be accepted I'm just guessing there are none for adults or youth.

I remember in 1988 my dad, brother , and I didn’t draw the kaibab, so we went down to the game and fish and bought 3 leftover 23 late December rifle coues deer tags over the counter.
There was like 75 tags left over out of 500 for the late hunt.
Now theres barely as many actual tags for the whole hunt as there were left over tags back then.
Crazy how things have changed.

The social media / YT crews havent helped but the state population growing by 100K people a year is probaly helping less. Figure if 1% of that population hunts its 1000 new hunters a year.
This is the answer right here.

We just don’t have the game populations and precipitation to support the human/hunter population growth here.

People move from rainy areas thinking the weather follows them, then wonder why it never rains here! lol
