is there any laws for finding a dead deer or elk.are you supposed to contact game and fish or what

Not trying to be a jerk, but wouldn't it be easier to just call the game and fish and ask them? Or you could take the advice of somebody here and tell the game warden, "well, somebody on monstermuleys.com told me it was ok!"

My son found a 5 point bull today so I called the AZGFD to report it. The elk looked like it had died in the few days, but we couldn't tell the cause of death. I asked if there was a chance that we would like to have the antlers after he did his investigation. He called me back and said that unless it died from either a lion kill or a fight wound from another elk than we could not have it. I was told by the past warden that if it died from natural causes you could have it. I asked this warden today, how do you know it didn't have a heart attack or it was just his time? He reminded me that it is property of AZGFD. That was the first and last time for me.
