I hate that photo!!! It shows how a few people, in only a few years, can destroy hundreds of years of true conservation of wildlife. And I still see it in a lot of people today. In some ways I have more respect for the indians.

I'm not one for telling my grandson how big of turd I had to pinch off from having to eat so much meat. I want to give him the antlers that hang from my wall and tell him the unforgettable experience that came with each and every one.

Those buffalo skulls and bones were ground up and used as fertilizer. Also the Indians could be wasteful at times by driving the buffalo over a cliff and killing more then they could process in time before they started to rot.
The killing off of the buffalo was sanction by our goverment in order to put the plains indians on the reservation by taking away their food source.
I am glad that they were not all killed off and enough were saved to start up new herds. Goes to show sometimes humans can really be stupid in what they do.
