An interesting story. The Coyote is not all that unusual but I think I may have ran across something that is.
I put up a tree stand near my home for those times when I only have a couple hours. I sat in it a couple times but only had elk show up instead of my targeted quarry the Black Tail deer.
Sunday after church I decided I would sit in the stand until dark. I did the standard, I got everything set up and finished by putting a litte Trails End deer scent on a mossy limb for a cover scent.
Not 5 minutes later I heard something crunching in the leaves directly behind me, straight down wind. I turned and seen a Coyote trotting right toward me, he came under my stand and stopped 10yds out leaving me no other choice but to zip an arrow through him.
When I climbed out of my tree I noticed a huge pile of coyote #### right at the base of my tree. It looked like he marked his territory every day for a week. I truely believe that he came in because of the scent,I had been putting scent on that tree for about a week. I don't know about you, but I haven't had many Coyotes come in on the down wind side and wait around at 10 yds for a clean shot?
I think i'll be using this deer scent on all my winter time predator hunts.
