I was coyote hunting Sunday (called in 5) and ran came across some youth deer hunters,
I told them I’d let them know if we see anything and sure enough 2.5mi up the road came across a group with three bucks.
During the stalk we busted the biggest buck, he was out of sight at 50 yds which you see us shift in the video.
We were 250yds from the single buck at this point,
And decided to close the distance a little more for the shot.
Got him to 204, and set him up in prone on a rock and calmed him downed and he squeezed his first shot off.
Shot fairly high, he shot a couple more time while the buck just stood there. (All clean misses)
At this point I figured something was going on with his scope.
The buck proceeded to walk directly at us and at 25 yds at our 9 o’clock I had him kneel up and take a shot-
His scope picture was clear however there was a rock 10 ft in front of us that he hit.
Heartbreaking!
The buck took off.
We proceeded back to the truck and I tested the rifle, I couldn’t hit 8” paper at 50yds
A quick re-zero and had it dialed in and had the youth shooter shoot some as well.
They also had reloads from an uncle that seemed to have a lot of variation 2 of them barely being able to extract .
All in all in was a blast being able to help a kid and his father.
(I did tell him to get rid of those reloads and buy factory)
