Anyone give an update on the whitetail shed progression? Was gonna head out this weekend to some riverbottom land i have to hunt out east.

Not sure about the Colorado WT's but in Montana they have all lost their antlers already. I havn't seen a whitetail buck in weeks and have already picked up a couple sheds. Good luck out there and pick up some hawgs. Find the horn Goose!

I usually start finding the bigger whitey sheds around Feb 6. Haven't had any luck on the big boys yet, but I did find a smaller brown last weekend. If you have river bottom access, you should be able to find them now.

Thanks guys. I figure as many half racked and busted bucks as i saw during hunting season that there should be plenty of bone laying around. I have to think alot have hit the ground in the past few weeks though. Had a buck right under my stand in late Dec. that had already dropped for some reason. I knew when he was coming at me he wasnt a doe and sure enough when he got under me 2 bloody pedicles?

I just moved up from Idaho last year and I would start finding those whitetail sheds around christmas every year..I mean there would still be some pakin in January but must of them would drop around the first of the year.

I live on the eastern slope here in Colorado and I have seen a few whitetails running to the airport and a few out riding east but I havn't seen too much. So I guess my question is..is there alot of whitetails out east here and is everything private? Or can a guy go out and see a few in some public land. I live up in Estes Park and I would love to see some whitetails again. Any input would be great. Thanks for your time.

Those whities out east should be dropping anytime.
Start looking where you have been seeing them (if its public or you have permission). Yep, a lot of land east of I-25 is private.

If I were you I'd be watching those town bulls and wait till they drop in your front yard!! Save some walking! LOL!

I dont think they have dropped yet. At least not all or most. We found 14 sheds this weekend and only 1 brown. Some real nice sheds from last year but was amazed only one from this year. Found 2 busted halfs. Was surprised at that as most every buck i saw in Nov and Dec was busted up to some degree. Did find both sides of a buck i saw this year and have on trail cam that i would have loved to have shot. Sheds we found should have put him in the 160's this past year.
