Colorado Unit 2 or 10

I've finally accumulated enought preference points to be reasonably sure of drawing an archery bull elk tag in either 2 or 10. The question is which one. If anyone has hunted elk in either of these areas I'd like to make contact.

So just how many points do you have? I,ve got 13 and I can,t get drawn in 201.I figure about 5 or 6 more years...Devlin

I have 14 non-resident going in to next year's draw. Your right can't draw 201...I'm getting near 60 and don't think I can wait for a 201 tag. Units 2 and 10 look like they should draw with 14 points; less for a resident...never know there are lots of folks that have more points that put in for preference points only.

Here is the way I see it from the website.

This is all 2004 stats.

26 tag
16 went to res and 10 to non-res
544 non res applied
There were 33 non-res with 13 points an 8 with 14.
The 8 pulled a tag and 2 of the 33 pulled (guess)

That leaves 31 non-res with 14 points. I doubt you get the tag in 10.

How about a Muzzlloader tag in 201? About the same odds,

One other item. You can search the web and find land owners in all those units and draw but it will cost you some cash.

You should draw either 2 or 10 with a bow. I know 10 really well and have heard great things about 2. My brother drew archery 10 two years ago and ended up taking a nice 6x6 (scored around 300) with his bow. 10 is very open and makes it hard for a bow sometimes. We saw some much bigger bulls but could never get close enough for a good shot. It is an awesome area though and the amount of animals you will see is amazing. I scounted 10 last year and killing a good bull there should only require time. Country is easy to hunt.

I've hunted Unit 2 for the past 3 years on landowner tags. Email me @ [email protected] and I'll tell you what I know. My biggest is 355. Killed it last year with my bow.

the problem is shooting a good bull 340 plus because they stay in the park until later and in unit 2 theres a cow rifle hunt going on so theres more poeple if you are looking for 275 to 300 class bull both have them.
