Unfortunately I have not had as much time as last year to watch the head gear this year. Has anybody been seeing much activity in Colorado? Not counting the plains.

Deer dont drop their antlers in CO they just keep em and they grow like horns and get bigger each year. Too much snow still I think. Maybe another month and it will be good.

Why do you have to exclude the plains? We're a few weeks out from finding many sheds here, but I hear they are littering the ground in Utah and especially Antelope island!

I live up in Estes Park and am fortunate enough to see alot of bucks. With that said I still see most packin. We have been watching three big bucks and Monday morning my buddy said the biggest of the three had dropped one side over the weekend. So it's getting close...but still alot of snow in some spots. Kind of new to the area so I'm pretty exited to start finding some sheds around here. Hope it helps...

Zekers, sorry to exclude the plains. Unfortunately I don't really have access to any good areas to look for sheds. I don't know anybody out that way. Also I saw on here that a lot of the whitetails had been dropping. But anyway if you would like to show me around the plains, I would be more than obliged to take you up on your offer. I am always looking to meet new people and explore new places.

Thank you guys for your help. I was out about 1 week ago and had not seen a single deer that had dropped. So I figured it would be a little while yet, but I see all these other people saying they found 30 mulie sheds in 1 day in other states. Makes me wonder.

I've seen deer hang on until April in CO, elk into May. That said, some deer drop as early as Jan., elk as early as the end of Feb. There's no magic date, but for the most part the most productive times are a little later when the critters start dropping in numbers and there is no snow on the ground. This time of the year you might just succeed in stretching your legs, which isn't so bad, either!

Timberline,
You better get out there now while you can! Guys like Muleycrazy23 have been going out since jan. in the deep snow!

It sucks people can't wait till spring time, but its the nature of the game anymore...

Almost all the little bucks are still carrying 2, big boys are 50-50, horn chasers are in the process of chasing them all up the mountains where they'll never get found. snow's still way too deep but that doesn't stop the terminally stupid with snowmobiles and snowshoes.
