Well my hunts have slowed down a little so I thought I would post a quick story. I posted pictures in another post but I didn't have time to write much. The hunt in Colorado was awesome. I have never seen so many bucks on public land. I hunted for 3 days before shooting this buck. He is not the biggest buck I saw by any means but he's not bad for a bow. He scores just under 150" with great front forks and decent mass (5" bases) I got a shot through the trees at a buck that I think would go 185-195 typical. It was 50 yards and a tough shot through the pines, but I had to take it. I found my arrow and it was a clean miss. The buck I killed was uphill at 77 yards in the wide open and I hit him perfectly behind the front shoulder. (I am not promoting long shots unless you practice. I have an 80 yard pin and I am pretty confident with it.) I passed on several decent bucks and missed couple before taking this one. I had about a 24" buck duck my string on video. At 39 yards I couldn't believe that I shot over his back until I watched my video in slow motion and watched the buck duck at least 10-12" at the sound of the string and my arrow missed the top of his back by less than an inch. I guess it was his lucky day and I got a sweet video out of the deal. Anyway I had a great time and I look forward to trying for another one here on Utah's extended. With one in the bag it will be alot easier to hold out for a really nice buck in Utah. This hunt definetly reminded me why I LOVE BOW HUNTING.
