Cody Elk Winter Conditions

I am looking to apply for 62 for elk this year, was wondering how the winter has been. Looks like there is lots of snow. Will there be some winter mortality on elk this year?

As stated above, its a bit early to know. Elk weather the weather better than the deer and antelope. It will come to whether the energy it takes to get sufficient forage becomes more than they can get from that same forage. The really cold temps take a lot more energy from them.
