CO archery during muzzleloader?

I'm an avid muzzleloader hunter and a avid bow hunter but I never did understand the CO regulation about muzzleloader hunters haveing to wear blaze orange in the feild while during the same time the archerers can wear full camo. Now I understand that the bow hunters have a much bigger persuasion on the regulations than the muzzleloader hunters do, possably being completly opposed to havin a bow in hand and wearing the color orange at the same time, convincing the fish and game department that this is a good idea. I'm not trying to start nothing here but I was wondering if any of you bow hunters can give a logical explanation as to why this makes sense...?

We have the same rule in Wyoming. I think your answer is right - because "that's the way it has always been." Archery groups raised holy heck when the rules were proposed to make them wear orange, so they were left to wear camo, even though in some instances, rifle seasons are open at the same time.

Some things can't be explained with logic...........

I think it is all BS. I don't think the seasons should overlap period. But this is a way that they can give us archer's a longer season. If I am hunting in a area that is open to rifle or muzzleloader hunts (like the 3rd week end of the archery hunt in CO.)I will wear at least an orange hat and take it off when I am closing the distance. It is a little scary.

I also think that the state of Colorado should let archery muzzleloader and rifle tag holders know that they will be sharing the mountain with multiple weapon hunters. High lite it in the proclamation or somthing.

I was really busy the first two weeks of the archery hunt last year in Colorado and to my suprise when I showed up to hunt that the mountain was a big pumkin patch. I know I should have checked the regs not only for my hunt dates but all others. I have hunted in almost every western state and have yet had to do this. Lucky I quess.

Here in Colorado the Colorado Bowhunters Association is responsible for us bowhunters not having to wear orange. We have a loud voice :)

I didn't really ask that, I know the bow hunters are responsable for this regulation, I asked why this regulation makes sence. Can you tell me why it's a good regulation?

OIFvet,

No, I really can't answer your original question. I guess I shouldn't have even made that comment.

Is there a Muzz organization to speak on behalf of the Muzz hunters here in Colorado ? If so, are you an active member of this group ? If not, maybe you can organize something. And, I'm not being a smart A$$ either.

It doesn't really make much sense to me either....other than a safety issue. If I was a Muzz hunter I would like to be in full camo. I would assume the CDOW thought it was a good idea, but they probably didn't get any objection ?

Maybe someone else can chime in...I'm curious as well.

OIFvet, I decided to look it up and found the following...http://www.csmla.org

Are you a member of this organization ? If not, you should be.

I'd be curious of their answer to your question.

I'm not actually a CO resident, I was just curious if there was actually anyone out there that could make sence of this. It's kinda like discrimination....like the scarlet letter, in a way. I just don't get it!

Can't hardly wait for this years elk season.
Slip out there in the early morning,
hours before first light.
know i have a chance at a heard bull if i get in the right location.
Can reach out there 100+ yards, if the moment calls for it.
I would love to see a scope sitting on top of my muzzy.
Only because its getting hard to see my front site,
and for sure the rear site is vanished with age.
This happens as you grow older you know.
Other than that, "no" a scope is not needed.

As for gun hunting and bow hunting mixed to gether at the same time, as it does happen, I think either the bow hunter wears orange or the muzzy hunter should be allowed to hunt in cammo.
(no orange)
as far as color blind, you tell me the last time someone asked a color blind person to pick up their orange hunting vest.
no dought they grabed it right up.
Its not so much the color but the fack that it is such a large block of solid color.
Colorado states "no camo orange" but states you can wear a netting over it>
So I just were my gorila netting with leaves over my bright orange tea shirt.
you can still see the orange, say from a distance of 1 yard, but you realy have to strain your eyes to see it.
hehehehe.
by the way i'm back.
I know I've been missed.
Good luck this season to all.
