Clear Lake Lops

LAST EDITED ON Aug-20-12 AT 10:27AM (MST)[p]Buddy and I got luckey and pulled two tags with max points. Arrived on wednesday to a HOT, DRY, SOMKEY desert. Did some looking around for the next couple mornings and found little in the way of Antelope but did find fresh sign. Saturday the weather cooled off a bit and we set off to see what we could turn up. At about 0845 hrs i find my buck. One well placed shot from the .257wby at 416yds and he hit the dirt.

We get him set to go and about noon my buddy connects with a nice goat and we are DONE! Worked till amonst dark taking care of meat and capes. Iced down, then a nice stake dinner. Both bucks were killed SE of the lake on public land.

D6 hunter I think I saw your lope the weekend after 4 th of july! The mass and horn shape at the points along with the flared cutters make me 95% positive it was him! Great buck and congrats!

Just out of curiosity would you tell me what kind of horn length he has and rough score if you know? You can PM me if you want. Just want to know if I'm close or not as my dad has a Likely Tables season two tag and I will be his field judge, haha.

Too bad it takes so long in between tags to draw the hunt!! Took me from 1987-2011, 24 years to draw out again. But, i'm still going o look forward to the next one!

OK here are the official B&C scores. my buck the one on the left is 79 1/8 the one on the left killed by my buddy is 87 2/8

i dont have the score sheet in front of me I just had mine done on friday and looked at my buddys sheet guess i should have got a copy. i know both bottom mass measurements were over 7"

Both are great lopes, excellent examples of the specie but that massive long pronged, deep curled top son of a gun is a Beast!!

Would love to see some numbers on that guy! Congrats to the hunters!!
