If you are former Army, you may know what these guys do.

They are the folks who ID remains of US Servicemen/women who are lost to war. I volunteered to do some work for them in the early 90s. Spooky and very humbling when poking through flight gear that once held a man who gave his all.

When remains come in to CILHI, they are escorted from a plane then placed on a big blue bus and taken to the lab where ID begins.

I cannot imagine how humbling this must have been...to take your fathers remains home to the same airport where you last saw him alive.

Welcome home.

If any of you happen to visit Hanoi, take a look at the Army Museum. You will find a fair amount of stuff tied to US Service men/women, including ID cards, uniforms, aircraft parts, etc.

?Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. "
