Changing your bowstring

So really, how often should a person change the string on their bow. I've heard some people say every year and other people say not to change it as long as it looks like it's in good condition. What's right. I've had the string on my bow for about 4 years but haven't really shot it that much but plan on using it alot this year.

Inspect for wear around the cam and idler, and the cable slide/rollerguard. If it is not worn and/or frayed and does not seem to be creeping, you are probably fine. I change mine out about every year, but I shoot alot. The serving is usually pretty worn down by the time I change mine.

I think it's recommended every year but I change mine every other. Also I use Winner Choice Strings and Buss Cable. Good Luck

Depends on how much you shoot and whether it is a custom string or not. I will shoot a factory string for a little while, but will change to a custom string made from 452X. After that it really depends on how much you shoot and how long you keep your bow. I like to change at least once every 12-18 months when I am shooting a lot (200-300 shots a week), or every 2 years when not shooting so often. Check out the website link and figure out what you want to do. I would definitely recommend replacing a 4 year old string before trusting it for hunting season.

I have never changed mine on my LX and it will be four years this summer. I don't shoot a crazy amount and it seems to be in excellent shape and not stretching. I shoot about 50 shots every week or two now, and then will start shooting 50-100 shots a week from Sept-Nov then maybe 10 shots a month until April. I was thinking about changing mine out this year just because. I don't have a spare and that would be the major reason.

I still have my original on but it's 2 years old.
But I have 2 back up strings and cables that have been shot in so
there ready to go if I find something wrong with my original.
One thing to remember is some original bow strings have speed knocks factory installed.Try to get an original or you will lose some arrow speed it happened to me.
I lost about 8-10 fps so that string is completely back up.
