Carrying your bow?

I carry it in my hand, just like I do my rifle when I use it. I use a belt hook to hold it while glassing. I never want to risk a fall that will mess up my sights or break my bow or optics. Everyone falls eventually if they are in rough country. I carry my weapon in my hand (away from the hillside)so it will not ever hit the ground.

In my hand also...I carry it by the handle, the string, rest it on my shoulder, whatever works. I don't strap it to a pack because you kinda need it to shoot at animals, ha ha ha. What are you gonna do when you step around a corner or over a hill and there is a big old muley standing there at 20 yards? You can't very well take off your back pack and undo your bow.

In hand. Usually by the handle, if I am glassing I just lay it down beside me.

When in doubt, floor it.

Diplomacy is the art of saying "nice doggy" until you find a big stick.

Excellent points.
That having been said,
do you practice shooting
with your pack on ?
It's bound to affect form.

Depends on were I am at the time. I use a bow sling when I'm hiking to get somewhere and in my hand when in the trees or where I think I might run into something. Primos makes a good sling that is easy to get your bow out of in a pinch. If I know I'm going to be walking for a few miles to hunt somewhere a sling really saves my arms from getting too tired. Also a buddy of mine has a pack that holds a bow and all you do is pull one rip cord to get your bow loose. It seems to be a nice set up.

Check apaarchery.com their bows already come with a carrying handle on them so carrying your bow as you walk is very easy.

Anyone use the primos sling. Looks good but I have never met anyone with one. How are they.

I use a bow hook while hunting and sometimes strap it to my pack, Badlands 2800, when hiking into an area before daylight. The bow hook allows me to get the bow ready fast.

I use the primos sling it easy to get your bow out in seconds it great for goin up steep hiilside and such sure does save your arms on the walkin in the moonlight and the walk out in the dark. During hunting time it usally in the hand

I use the Primos sling. It worked well with my older bow but this new Alpine bow is shorter and I had to modify it. I like it because it protects the cams and the string when you are hiking and glassing.
