Caribou Sheds

I've just been waiting for hunting to start and watching the hunting shows. I particular like the ones about Caribou. Maybe it's all those antlers running around.

I was just wondering if anyone collects caribou sheds. There must be tons of them but I never hear anything about them. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks

I've found a few up on a caribou hunt in Ak, and wanted to keep every one of them. Keeping them and shipping them home just isn't feasible though. They're a lot of fun to find though.

I collect them. I have a total of one so far. I got it from a local antler buyer. He had it stashed in the back of his garage and I traded a Whitetail rack for it. Good Trade. Nobody ever brings them home because of the cost to ship them. This one might be the only one I ever get.

funny you should mention caribou sheds. i was working up in ANWR the past week and returned to town last night. Yesterday I was on a flight in a small fixed-wing careening across ANWR and spotted countless bou sheds, but i was "on the clock" so no time to land and pick up some...i also saw at least 8 skulls with exceptional racks. let me look and see if any of my pics of the sheds turned out...

If you look hard you can see the "sticks" scattered around the ground.

Next August I plan to do a combined sheep/caribou hunt in this area and i guarantee i will be bringing out a few bou sheds in addition to my other trophies :)

That is one of the greatest pictures I have seen.

I've spent hours hunting game and sheds and seldom finding much of either and then I watch these caribou hunts and game is everywhere. Now you have done the same thing by showing the "sticks". This is driving me crazy.

Twolabs,
I was busy running off at the mouth making my own post and hadnt read the topics yet. I should have jumped in here.
Caribou shed hunting is like easter egg hunting, except you leave your basket full of eggs 1500 miles away.

I collected several on my caribou hunt. When the plane came to pick me up we tied them on. When I got packed to come home they stayed at his place. Too expensive and too much hassle to ship.
