LAST EDITED ON Dec-04-16 AT 02:55PM (MST)[p]My little mind's made up Boss, just do not need it to happen over night. Nor does it all need to happen in the order you or I want. Nor can you or I go from very little American made, at the flip of switch, to full throttle American made, so we trashy white folks will continue to shop at Walmart, more or less, depending on other options and a new found or not, American made, manufacturing progress.
Protectionism, like socialism and capitalism and most other isms, including most religion-isms, are not all or nothing, they are all degrees of the same, so............. "appropriate protectionism", can be blended with lesser degrees of a free market, rather than a 100% free market, and it will produce a different result than an "all or nothing" adaptation of either. Same with most isms. Not every degree of socialism is as misguided as total socialism. Same for capitalism.
You get the idea.
When we speak these terms, as if all these issues are "absolutes", and therefore only can have "positive or negative" outcomes, it makes for great debating points but rarely, in life, is anything as "absolute" as "hard liners" from either side would have us believe.
The Art of the Deal, is in my opinion, better titled "The Art of a Negotiation". Negotiation, when practiced as purely as it's definition, is a stunningly successful way to problem solve, in as much as solutions are developed where both parties are satisfied with the outcome, that is, they are satisfied enough to look forward to problem solving (ie; doing business) again, ......... because both parties have had a beneficial/positive attitude about the last effort.
Negotiation: is a dialogue between two or more people or parties intended to reach a beneficial outcome over one or more issues where a conflict exists with respect to at least one of these issues.
A negotiator, that fails to "do a deal" where both parties are not satisfied, is a problem maker, not a problem solver. Trump apparently has either naturally or has developed positive negotiating skills. As angry or disappointed as some folks may be, that he, with his skills, has been elected, does not alter the fact that he isn't, yet, going to lay down and give up. So far, no one has convinced him, "he can't". I suspect, therefore, he will continue to, do what he does. A whole lot of folks are apparently going to try to prevent him from rebuilding America, or at least his "version of what America was or should be".
So......we're going to get a few years to see if "someone else" gets "something" done. Won't be the simple flipping of a switch! I know you will most likely still feel the need to remind us how slow and backward it's going but..... our expectations are different, so we're kind of like two dogs, facing opposite directions and mindless barking at each other, both wondering why the other doesn't just put a sock in it.
Have a pleasant afternoon T. As I've said repeatedly, and preached back at ya, hope your life continues to improve and prosper, hope mine does as well....... never, ever have resented another man's good fortune.
