Well the new bow just got here last week. I am wonderin' which carbons to go with. What do ya'll think? I have been shooting and hunting with xx78 aluminums but I am pretty sure about switching to carbons so I'm just wonderin' what to go with. Any input would be great. Thanks

I shoot gold tip's and am happy with them. They are strong, and
not too expensive.I haven't shot anything else but these so I can't really compare to other brands but these have worked
well for me.

IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

I would have to second that vote for Gold tips. I used to shoot Bemin hunters, and then a few years ago I switched over to Gold tips and I couldn't be happier. I have been thinking of trying the easton axis arrows just for kicks, but I like Gold tips too much to give them up.
What kind of new bow did you get?

You cant go wrong with the Easton Axis. Shoot great and dont cost that much!

Easton ACC's, a little spendy but very durable and very straight. You will probably have people tell you that the aluminum core allows them to bend, that is only under extreme circumstances that would probably break most other straight carbons. Bemans are probably the worst for not being straight. I started with Gold Tips and they were OK but I got a little frustrated with them cracking at the knock. Even though the ACC's are almost 2 times the cost I am definetely spending less on arrows in the long run and shooting a higher quality shaft.

A second vote for the Easton Axis arrows. I have shot Gold Tips for the last five years and made the switch this year to the Axis. Axis seem to be more durable and easier to tune broadheads than the Gold Tips. There is some more info. on these shafts in a thread about Elk Hunting Arrows further down.

Carbon arrows have come a long way the last few years. There are several very good manufacturers already mentioned. Here's my personal breakdown:

Easton ACC's are awesome....but expensive for the average bowhunter. The Axis are fine, but I like some others a little better.

Gold Tips are pretty durable nowadays and make several good shafts for today?s bowhunter. Carbon Express also perform well, and are about the same as Gold Tips, especially when you buy the .001 shafts in both brands.

Cabela?s offers some moderate arrows that work fine for some. I've seen a few but have never shot them.

I'm currently shooting PSE's Radial X Weave shafts at .001 straightness. An awesome shaft, IMO, which is extremely durable and consistent.

For the money, Gold Tips, Carbon Express, and Radial X Weaves are probably your best bet. They make a great mid range shaft (.003 straightness) as well as their most expensive (.001 straightness) hunting /3D shaft. Whichever you choose, have fun and good luck.

I've been checking into carbons as well. I was all set to buy some camo Beman Max 4 (340) until I read this post now I'm a little hesitant. I like the 11.2 grains per inch, with my 28" arrow and 125 grain head, I'm shooting right at 438 grains. I am also looking into the Easton Axis 300 which are 10.69 grains per inch, with a 125 grain head makes 424 total grains. I would kind of like to avoid putting weights in them, and that's why I was leaning towards the Bemans cuz they are heavier. I believe Easton bought Beman and they are basically the same arrow with the H.I.T. insert in both.
If anyone has had a bad experience with Bemans recently, please let me know.
Thanks.

I have to say go with the Axis arrows they are the best hunting arrow out there in my opinion. The wife and i both used them last year and they performed great.

I switched to carbon a few years ago and went with the Gold Tip. Shot the 5575 for the 1st year and then went to the 7595. Have been very happy with these arrows. They are a little heavier than the standard carbon arrow.

I shoot the Gold Tips 5575 during the 3D season because they are pretty durable for their weight. I shoot the Easton Axis arrows for hunting because they are ultra durable and heavy--good for KE!

I used to use aluminums, but then I switched to carbons. They seem to perform much better than my aluminums ever seemed to. I shoot the Gold Tip 5575 XT Hunters. I paid $64 with tax for a dozen. They have been doing a good job for me.

I shoot Carbon Express arrows because they fly well and seem pretty durable, but I haven't tried anything else (carbon). My light setup is the CX300 for deer sized game and then I have a heavier setup, which is the Terminator Hunter Selects.
