Can I cook it with out?

can I cook the skull with out poping the prongs off? or is it a must to wait till they come off!?

I have understood if you cook or boil off pronghorn horns you risk deforming the horns, the openings get all out of shape and will shrink up drastically. I always put the caped out head in a big plastic bag with water and rot them off, kinda nasty but works, this only takes a few days,then I boil the skull and clean out the inside of the horns with boraxo and a small brush,baby bottle brush works good. Get all protein out the horns and they will remain the size they are and will retain their shape.You then can use a silicone or good 2 part epoxy to reattach the horns to a completely clean skull.
