SANTA CRUZ, Calif. ?Blue-footed boobies, the large seabirds with bright seafoam-blue webbed feet, have suddenly expanded their range in California, and bird watchers reported seeing boobies this week in Santa Cruz, Capitola and Monterey.
Boobies are normally rarely found north of the Salton Sea in the far southeastern corner of California. But Kimball Garrett of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County said the birds are suddenly "all over the place."
