Hey, what state you you horn hunt in. Some of your sheds are huge. Whats the score on one of your biggest elk and deer sets? You have pics of big Wyoming bucks, but do you ever horn hunt in Wyoming?
WTH

Hey WTH, I have shed hunted in WY. I shed hunt in Utah, Colorado, and wyoming. The bigest elk set from this year scores about 350 or so. The biggest elk single I have I believe scores 157 inches. The biggest muley shed from this year scores 92 inches with a broken beam after the fourth..and also a broken third. I also have an 87 inch typical shed from this year. I havent been to wyoming taking pictures yet this fall. My plan is to get out there soon.

WTH where are you from? Where do you call home? Born and raised in RS and went to college in RS and Laramie. I have taken Browtine shed hunting a few times in WYO.

Bearcat,
WTH is my brother, we live outside of Cody. Where do you live now? What kind of shed hunting do you mainly do? Do you hunt the northern or southern half of the state?
Tanner

Tanner you live in a great area compared to RS. I live in SLC (actually a small town by). I pretty much hunt deer sheds, but Browtine keeps bugging me to get out for elk and moose. Found my first moose shed a couple of mths ago. Nice big 11pt that looks fresh but is from last year (nice and protected from the sun) I pretty much hunt all over in Wyo, Ut, and CO and even some in Texas.

You must like being so close to the Yellow herd and some of those ranches up there. It must be fun and it looks like you and your brother do well with the elk. I love Wyoming and still consider that as home and Utah as a stopping spot, but likely will stay here. Good jobs and good mtns. Beside being from RS and going to school in Laramie THERE IS ONLY SO MUCH WIND AND DUST I can handle (ha,ha)

Good talking with you and if you ever want to drop me a line you can reach me at [email protected]

Bearcat....are you talking Rock Springs? I would think that whole SW part of Wyo would be excellant shed hunting? I worked in the oil patch back in '80-'82...lived in Fort Bridger and worked around Evanston,Rock Springs,Labarge,Kemmerer, etc. Wasn't into sheds then and it drives me nuts to thick that I could have got in on some of the "good old days" while I was down there working. I'm sure it's changed a bunch since then but that country sure seemed like it would have been great shed hunting??? Hell....I coulda climbed to the top of the derrick and glassed for sheds right from the rig......coulda,woulda,shoulda

yes on the Rock Springs. it was good years ago but like other places there are just to many people looking . You can go out now and only find a few. I try to stay away as there are better places that do not have some many people and winter range restrictions etc. Also to many ATVs breaking the law.

Yep I spent many years on the derrick as a welders helper (dad had a welding business). Man those are some different people and doing a hard job especially in the winter. TOUGH.

shoot me an email and we can talk more.

I understand what you mean by only so much wind, but sometimes I think it is the nasty weather and of course the Grizzly bears that keeps everyone from crowding the area. I don't know why, but the cold, wind, impassible terrian, and the constant threat of Grizzlies isn't enough to keep me from the sheds. If you ever get up this way, we should hook up and do some shed hunting. Whatever the time of year. My brother and I went out just last week and found a 352 set! It is a couple of years old, but that doesn't matter, There are places here that hold sheds year round. There is almost not enough time. My e-mail is [email protected]

Hey I am not sure which one is better the Grizzly bears or the Jackalops. Those darn Utahns. (ha,ha,ha)

Tanner that would be great, I would look forward to a trip with you guys even if it was just to see that country again. I used to get up to Cody a couple times a year when I was in HS as I played Soccer and Football up there. Have not been up in that area for some time, but try to get to Jackson as often as I can. You get over for the horn auction? Maybe we could meet up there sometime.

Nice on the Set already. Great to have family and friends to go with when there is NO and I mean NO competition or fear of someone selling your spot to the highest bidder if you know what I mean. Hey I will send you a link of a website that is hosting some of my sheds and arrowheads. It is not quite done, but this guy (steeleyes) is a great guy!!!! He seems to be truely one of a kind. Kind of neat as I have found a few on this site and I am sure there are more that I wished I could do more with. (Browtine, DeerKing, COGriz) Unfortunately I do not know many on the site so I imagine there are many many more.

How far south do you guys come (Pindelle, RS, SLC ?)

BearCat

BearCat,
I have been to the auction a few times, but it is hard to drive to Jackson when you know that there are brown sheds just waiting to be picked up! I think I'm going to try and make it this year!
I would like to take a lot at your website. I'm real bing into arrowheads myself and have found some good points around the Sunlight Area.
We don't get down very far south and that I am trying to change. We hunt only in the Mountains west of Cody, and sometimes venture over to the Bighorn Mountains to the East. Had a trip planed to go south to look for sheds, but things came up within my hunting party and we were unable to go. I would like to get down there and do some shed hunting someday.

Your webpage is very impressive. You have found lots of great sheds. Harem-Master and I might be able to make it down to shed hunt for muleys, but up here, they are elk spots that you have to hit before others get to them because they are easily avaible. We don't find a lot of muley sheds up here, but elk we find around 60-70 browns peer year. I know this might not be believeable, but we just got our scanner and will post as soon as we figure the thing out.
