Broadheads

When I chase elk with a bow, I use Zwickeys & Magnus fixed bladed heads for their superior penetration. For deer, I've used MANY different brands that performed well. Muzzy, Innerlock, Thunderheads, and Rocket to name a few.

Shot placement is probably more critical than the style of broadhead shot. That's why I want ALL the advantage I can get to make up for those marginal hits. :)

85 grain Thunder Heads. I shoot T-Heads because they fly just like field points and hold up great on impact.

Thanks for the responses. I have shot the old Bear Super Razorheads for years and they have always performed very well. This year however I changed my set up a little to flatten my trajectory. I went to carbon arrows and Muzzy 3 blade 100 gr. I did flatten out my trajectory and I really like the way the Muzzy heads fly but this will be my first season to hunt with them. I was just wondering what some of the rest of you used.

How did you fare this year Blacktimber? I think I will start shooting snuffers. I have been shooting muzzy 3 blade 125. They have always done well for me but I have always had ideal hits with them until this year. I believe if I would of been shooting snuffers I would have found my bull this year before his meat was rotten.

i shoot the new crimson talons 100 grains and they brought the bull elk i shot this year down, he did not go more then ten yards.

I'm really lovin the Montec G-5's. Milled from a solid peice of steel, no parts at all. This head groups really well for me as well. The penetration is incredible, I put one through two 4" wide broadhead butts, 4 spaced layers of hanging 1/2" felt and buried it up to the insert in a fir fence.....no damage whatsoever. I shot a smallish muley with one this year, before the deer took 2 steps there was a patch of blood the size of a volleyball on his side, the deer went about 45 yds. The shot was 52yds and I recovered the arrow a full twenty yards past the point of impact. Sharpened it up and its back in my quiver ready to go. I can't say enough good about these broadheads, I'll be shooting them as long as they keep making them!!

I like muzzy's 100 grain three blades. I live in Idaho, and wish Idaho would let us use mechanicals.

But until then, Muzzy's for me. Good and strong.

I have shot a lot of broadheads and nothing compares with a Muzzy 130 in my book. BIG holes, great flite and great weight forward for arrow balance. The penatration with the 2314 shaft I shoot is as good as it gets. This is my choice! I have taken two sheep at long yardage with a Muzzy and many elk. They work!
