Hey guys I need some help PLEASE, I'm sure this question has been asked a thousand times and I'm sure you are tired of seeing it posted but I have not read the threads.

I'm looking for a Broadhead target that will stand up to being shot without slivering. I have owned the oringinal Block and recently I purchased the Cabelas Arrowhawk, both of these targets slivered. I even called Cabelas and spoke with a product specialist and they recommended the Arrowhawk. Now I'm not joking when I tell you I have about 18 shots in this target and it is already slivering and my arrows go in all the way to the fletching. Is there a target out there that will with stand being shot with broadheads and not sliver?

Please, Please, Help.

Thank you

LAST EDITED ON Aug-14-07 AT 03:56PM (MST)[p]Morell Yellow Jacket. Best broadhead target out there IMO. Rather inexpensive too!

a big +1 on the yellow jacket. I would highly recommend that one also

The Yellow Jacket looks like a good one, I bought a target at Mega Lo Mart last year that is the same style as the YJ but I paid $17 for it. Most of the WalMarts have their archery stock in right now if you hurry before they sell out.

I bought the Morrell yellow jacket broadhead target and shooting the yellow side I had pass throughs after 25 shots, with the black sides it was coming apart within 75 shots. We are not talking slivers, but big chunks!
I would suggest trying the rhinehart next, kind of expensive but seems the way to go. Ptherwise just accept the slivering. At least on layered targets you can shoot both broadheads and field points, which you can't do on the Morrell.

Another vote for the Yellow Jacket. I've been shooting the same one for awhile now with no problems......

Thank you all for your votes I think I will be purchasing the Yellojacket next season since this season is already here.

Last night I was sooting again and I shot completely through the Arrowhawk target, I'm not happy at all with this target.

Where do I buy the Rhinehart target?

Thank you

I agree with grizz...Lo Mart has their archery items now. Go & buy a couple of their styro broadhead targets for $ 15 a piece. They'll last for a hundred or so broadheads. I found a big block of styro out at the lake last year from one of the floating docks that is 4 ft x 5ft x 2 ft thick and we use that.

I dont think there are any targets that wont sliver when shooting them with sharp broadheads. Its just something that wears out and cannot stand up to repeated shooting.

A tip for the yellow jacket is to paint different spots on it. I've had mine for well over 500 shots and it is still holding up well. I just rotate my shots around.

the block is the one i have and i would get nothing but the block. i have had it for 6 years and am still yet to have a pass through. really, i am not even remarkably close to having a pass through. it is the best target imo

Maybe I am just a sissy but I have a hard time pulling broadheads out of the yellow jacket. I find it much easier to use the Block, or the Black Hole. The Black hole has lasted me and my dad for many years now.

lchcguide---I agree it is hard to pull them out but as it breaks down it gets a whole lot easier.

I contacted Morrell about the problems I have had with their target and they sent me a brand new one for a warranty replacement. I noticed right away the new one weighs about 5 lbs less than the old one. Great customer service and I put up a report after giving the new target a few shots.

The Block 4x4 is what I use. You're going to get some damage with just about any target. The 4x4 has the layered foam surrounded by a self healing expanded foam that is poured around the layers in a mold. The outside coating is self healing and does not sliver but with repeated shooting at any target your going to see some damage. This is the best broadhead target I've used so far. Good luck finding that perfect target!!!
