I will be hunting deer during september with a bow. Ive been looking at broadheads. I really like the tekans. What do you guys think of them?

I shoot fixed and mechanical broadheads (depends on the animal). As far as a mechanical for deer, they are great. I ended up killing 5 deer and one elk w/ them last year. If you are looking for a reliable fixed blade, try the Magnus Stinger (4 blade).

Wac'ems are the way to go. I've shot many different fixed blade broadheads and had the best success with them.

I will be using the Tekan this year for elk. It is the best mechanical made IMO and the only cut on contact mechanical that I have ever heard of. Everyone's beef with mechanical heads is that you lose the cut on contact tip that make fixed heads so good, and the energy lost when the blades open. G5 has solved both these problems with the Tekan. It has the cut on contact head and reward opening blades that require a mere 3 lbs of pressure to open. My buddy killed his cow elk last year with a 100 gr Tekan and the elk went less than 20 yds before tipping over and the arrow passed through completely. The tekan has my vote.

The best luck that I've had with any broadhead is Muzzy broadheads. They truley are awesome. Never had a broadhead hold up as well as a MUZZY.

Just my opinion, but I believe a fixed cut on contact like the Stinger mentioned is a much better choice for a big critter like an elk than any expandable. Will they work under the right conditions, absolutely. Do you want more conditions to work with if things go bad? If yes, than a fixed blade broadhead is a better choice. I'm a Magnus fan myself and have shot the Stinger and now shoot the Snuffer SS in 125 grain. Easy to sharpen, one piece, cut on contact, extremely durable, and best of all, a lifetime guarantee. Muzzy's and Thunderheads have killed a bunch too.
