i have my bow sighted in with my muzzy 125 grain broadheads and they shoot much differently than my field tips. do you guys resight your bow for summer practice then back to broadhead sight?

Nope. Go to eastonarchery.com and go to downloads. Download the tuning guide and follow directions for broadhead tuning. Very simple and easy way to tune your bow.

Good luck
Kris

Tune your bow, by making rest adjustments, to shoot broadheads together with field points. See the Easton Arrow Tuning Guide, as mentioned above.

If all else fails, don't be afraid to try a more compact style broadhead. Muzzy's are generally not known for their flight accuracy. If you can get them to shoot out of your set up, great. Their terminal performance is hard to argue with. A lot of folks just have some trouble getting them to fly consistently and together with field points. Montecs, Wac'ems, Slick Tricks, Nitrons, Shuttle T Locks, etc, are all a bit more aerodynamic and will be a bit more forgiving.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-12-07 AT 02:16PM (MST)[p]I will probably catch some flack for this but oh well. I don't think broadheads and field points should hit the "Same" spot. If they do, it would seem that one or both of them are not tuned quite as well as they could be. They are shaped differently and have a different F.O.C. All that said, there are quite a few heads that will hit close to your field points.

My broadheads this years shot about 5" left at 50 yards this year. I played around with the rest and determined that the heads shot the best, less left and right misses with this arrangement. So I clicked my sight windage until the broadheads hit in the middle. I don't care if they hit the same spot as long as the broadheads hit where I am aiming.

I shoot muzzys and sight the bow in for them. At 50yds there is a few inches difference and at 70 there is about six. I just hold different with field tips but I don't re-sight the bow.

I sight mine in using muzzys broad heads and don't have to worry about it when it's time to hunt. I practice with what I'm going to hunt with.

99% of the time your broadheads will fly differntly than your field tips. With a fixed blade your pin gap will naturally be slightly larger because of the drag with the blades. You might have to adjust left to right a little bit, but if your bow is tuned properly it should still be right on right to left. If you are shooting mechanicals you should be almost perfect with your field tips. Just make sure your bow is tuned properly.

I tuned my bow in using the muzzy practice blades and they cost me a LARGE deer. After two more misses with the Muzzys I switched to some Rocket mechanicals and finally shot a deer. Now I shoot the Rage two blade.

Spend some more time tuning your bow, in my opinion.

The muzzy's are also not the most consistent on straightness, I once had 18 Muzzy broadheads and only 5 of them would spin true(straight) on the same arrow. I used G5 Strikers and had every broadhead spin true on that same arrow. That being said, the Striker came apart when my wife shot her mule deer this year. Blades bent and one even broke off.

When you start tuning your bow, your field points and broadheads should hit very close at 20 yards, the difference will grow the further out you shoot though. If your bow is out of tune even a little bit, the broadheads will accentuate this due to planing issues and it will show up.

I used to adjust my sight to match my broadheads before I learned how to really tune my bow, now there is no way I would go back to that. A little adjustment goes along way.

I shoot titanium 100's and I have the same FP impact as BH impact out to 70 yards so I Think it is all about the tune. I do believe some bows and broadheads have issues but with the right arrow for the correctly tuned bow and a good true BH you shouldn't have many issues. IMHO
