Boyz and Horns

Took my 2 oldest boys out the other day to see what we could find.

Spent a couple of hours hilking the hills and only came up with three horns. Luckly two were a matched set laying side by side.
Boys had a lot of fun, and are really bugging me about when we can go out again.

Here are the ATL shots

Nice 4x4 that should be about 26 inches wide.

This is the one that I think my boys were most excited about finding.

Awesome pictures!

Judging by the big smiles, this will not be your last trip :)

The really bad thing about it all is that those are only 2 of my 4 boys. We also have another one on the way but we dont know what it is yet.
I forsee many many years of hunting for horn, both on the head and off the head.

Guess I will stay in shape that way!!

That lizard is endangered...your boys will likely go to jail for picking it up...:)

Awesome day and that's a great set. Took my son once when he was about that age and he found a western horned lizard. He loved it...those kids can find everything...:)

The boys will keep you busy for sure! I have three, one of them is driving 8 hours to be home on Saturday to pick up sheds then driving 8 hours on Sunday to get back to school!

Time in the hills is always worth more than money

How did you get that collared lizard to sit so still? And more importantly...NOT to clamp onto your boy's finger with those wicked TEETH????

Those boys of mine sure like that lizzard, they still have it at home in a cage. They make me go to the pet store like once a week to buy it crickets so they can feed it. It has become a regular part of the family now.

Did you know that those things when they run at full speed actually get up and run on only their hind legs? That was pretty cool to see. The buys let it loose in the back yard all the time and let it run around and then it seems to just stop and let them pick it up and put it back in the cage. Weirdest thing I have ever seen.

My little 2 year old tried to hit it with a bat the other day, his big brothers wernt very happy with him.

I have a pretty extensive knowledge of them. They will eat anything they can catch, literally. Small birds, toads, even mice. Voracios eaters to say the least! They really go for other lizards. Had a few a couple of years back but wound up selling them as I didn't have the time to mess with them. They tame down real good and make really great pets.

SMALL BIRDS.

Thats a pretty big mouth full for a little lizzard. It would be pretty cool to see. I may have to go get a little mouse and see if he will eat it.

Thanks for the suggestions on food for it.
