Bow making

Got a wild hair to build my own longbow from scratch. I have a book ordered but wanted to see if anyone here had experience with this and could point me in the right direction.

I have shot archery all of my life but this is starting at ground zero.

Any help is greatly appreciated,

I have started one years ago, but never finished. A friend of mine only hunts and shoots with a self bow. He is a good shot and bow maker. Do you want me to see if he will talk to you? He lives in UT. Let me know...
