Bow Hunters-If you could start over-what would you do different??

Been away from the forum for awhile-I hope everybody's hunting season went well or is still going well.

I have a question. I am looking to get back into bow shooting and bow hunting. Notice I said back into-I drifted away for few years as I prefer cooler weather (in SC this means gun season) and I feel like I may have picked up some bad habits; also I feel I didn't do a very good job with my equipment choices and I want to start "fresh".

So my question is: If you could start over (bow hunting and/or bow shooting) knowing what you know now, what would you do differently?

Thank you in advance for input and suggestions

I would buy the best equipment possible. I would have saved a lot of money if I would have bought what I wanted instead of what I could afford. I bought what I could afford at the time, and upgraded often. Cut to the chase and save up for what you want. Good equipment pays off.
Hunt new country, explore new country, keep adding apples to your basket. Diversify your options I guess.
Put in for everything, everywhere, in-state and out-of-state.
One more thing I would do different is...I wouldn't miss!

Good question!!! I think I would treasure the pure pleasure of bowhunting and not worry about all the gadgets, and success. I for one, as I get older, realize more and more what a privilege and joy it is to just get out and bowhunt. Bowhunting is great for the mind and the soul.......ENJOY IT !!!!!!!!

Good posts

I agree with both comments, shoot the way you enjoy! (traditional, basic compound or gadget city) I recommend you find the best Archery proshops in your area, I would have had more success if I would have found a good experienced archery pro sooner. He can really help you.

Check the Bowsite.com they have a SC forum that should give you some insight on local proshops.

Also I believe the best bows, sight, broadheads are best sellers more than 1 year. I believe in buying what has been proven through hunting season, not just what was hot at the archery show. My guide lines for new stuff is:Bows 2nd year. rangefinders, arrows & rests 3rd year. broadheads 3+

Good luck

Dan
