i am looking at getting a pair of 10x42 binos and am on a pretty tight budget (under $200). anyone have any recomendations of the best i can get for that price range?

They are new in the market but have been getting rave reviews - maybe check out the Zen-Ray line, they have some right at $200 that are really nice - plus the warranty is great.

Contact Doug at Cameraland about the Vortex special they were running. They also had some Minox for a screaming deal.

Look at The REI brand Binos. the 10X 50's for $199.00. No expert on optics here, but I got a pair and I think they are just as good as binos costing 2x as much. Plus, as an REI member, 100% satisfaction guarantee!

Get the 10x50 Vortex Vultures, they run about $259 but they are selling the coyote brown color for $159.00. You can't beat that deal!!! I just got my pair in the mail, and they are awesome! You can't beat the Vortex warantee either.

i couldnt find these for cheaper than $249. where did you get such a good deal? is it still going on?

thanks.

Go to cameralandny.com and look at the Vortex and Minox deals. Also the Minox deal Doug has right now is an awesome deal. ALOT of people are really happy with their Vortex optics. I have the Razors and they are terrific, but way over the budget you have set. I picked mine up from VIP optics (Cowslayer) and he treated me very well. Here is a link to his website http://www.vipoptics.com/index.html

The Vortex Diamondbacks (http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexdiamondback10x42 ) get a lot of pub as being a bino that is comparable if not a little better than the Nikon Monarch. I have owned the Minox BD10x42BR and they were very good. I am certain that the Minox deal that Doug is advertising ( http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/minox.pl?page=62168 ), will be a similar view for a really really good buy. I own a BD8x32BR ASPH that is a terrific bino and compliments my 10x42 Vortex Razor very well. I really like Minox, but the warranty and product line from Vortex is impressive. I think that you would have a hard time finding a better optic for the money than the Minox deal Doug is promoting and the Vortex Diamondback. The Stokes Talon is the same thing or at least very close as the Diamondback. It is marketed to the "birding" crowd where as the Vortex line is marketed directly to the hunting crowd. Here is the deal that Doug has on the Talon. http://www.cameralandny.com/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexstokestalon10x42

I hope that this helps you find what you are looking for.

Good luck.

Firehawk.
