I likely don‘t have enough points to draw 3A/3C early. Only 2 nonresident tags.Take a look at 3A/3C early. There are a couple of great outfitters in those units.
There are only 140 people either with you in your point group or ahead of you. Gambling them on a late hunt seems like a a rushed or emotionally driven move. Unless health or age are an issue I would stay the course. If your dead set on hunting , pick up a bow or smoke stick and take your pick of units.NR with a bunch of points (25) that is tired of waiting for an early season rifle tag. Unit and outfitter recommendations appreciated.
You nailed it! Unit 1 muzzleloader is 100% with 24 points. The dates are perfect. That hunt would be a blast.I would shoot for 27 or 1 if I were you. I would hate to wait that long and go with a late season hunt. 1 would be muzzleloader.
Wasn’t unit 1 an early rifle hunt in 2021? How did you determine that it will be 100% with 24 points? You nailed it! Unit 1 muzzleloader is 100% with 24 points. The dates are perfect. That hunt would be a blast.
I was going off GoHunt. 27early rifle would be 100% too.Wasn’t unit 1 an early rifle hunt in 2021? How did you determine that it will be 100% with 24 points?
Thanks. Epic Outdoors says 25+ for unit 1 early muzzleloader and 24+ for unit 27 early rifle. I guess there is a chance. I’ve been looking at the point totals and it doesn’t seem like many of the top point holders are drawing tags.I was going off GoHunt. 27early rifle would be 100% too.
He’s on my short list. Called him about a week or so ago and left a message. Perhaps he is still hunting or at one of the Sheep Shows etc.Unit 23 Late Rifle with Mogollon Rim Outfitters - Greg Krogh! Him and his guides have this unit dialed in and his hunters take great bulls every year. I took this bull with them this past season in 2021.

Probably still down in Mexico hunting Muledeer . I’ve hunting with him twice great bunch of guys and they really do a great job of pre-scouting.He’s on my short list. Called him about a week or so ago and left a message. Perhaps he is still hunting or at one of the Sheep Shows etc.
He’s waiting for the right moon phase.I wonder when that one nonresident with 32 points is going to finally apply for a hunt?
I heard it was 42 year old guy and it’s his retirement strategy. He will sell his points to someone and do point guard, then he’ll do it again the next year. He’s waiting for the right moon phase.
I am so far behind with 20 that I about to do the same!I'm in with 26 NR points. I'm in for the long haul. Early rifle or bust.
Wow what a jumbo.Unit 23 Late Rifle with Mogollon Rim Outfitters - Greg Krogh! Him and his guides have this unit dialed in and his hunters take great bulls every year. I took this bull with them this past season in 2021.

Looks like Unit 23 late rifle took 21 pts to guarantee a tag in 2021 (non res)You should split with someone if you are going 23 late. I would be willing with 15 lol. Im just pipe dreaming looking forward to hearing how you do.
Absolutely you can draw a tag.So, only my second year of putting in for elk in AZ and I am 50. Am I completely wasting money? Can I draw a tag before I am 65?
Yup. Just depends on how flexible you are. Plenty of hunts with decent chances. If you insist on a premium hunt, you could be waiting a long time, however. But even at that, there's always a remote chance to draw most every hunt in AZ, even for a NR.So, only my second year of putting in for elk in AZ and I am 50. Am I completely wasting money? Can I draw a tag before I am 65?
Yup. The late hunts favor you as a NR. If you want a Sept tag, well, you might hit 65 before…hahaSo, only my second year of putting in for elk in AZ and I am 50. Am I completely wasting money? Can I draw a tag before I am 65?
Without looking at all the draw reports, there are definitely tags you can draw within a few years. So, only my second year of putting in for elk in AZ and I am 50. Am I completely wasting money? Can I draw a tag before I am 65?
26 got it done on 3a last year, but there was only 1 tag in the bonus pass. It depends on what other 26 and above point holders decide apply forWill 26 points draw the early rifle in 3a/3c this year?
@Wiszard I drew the 23 Late Bull tag last year (2021) in the random draw with 8 NR points if that gives you any hope!Looks like Unit 23 late rifle took 21 pts to guarantee a tag in 2021 (non res)
And how did you do? And let’s see some pic’s!!@Wiszard I drew the 23 Late Bull tag last year (2021) in the random draw with 8 NR points if that gives you any hope!
Hey @Buzzy just scroll up in this post... I already posted a picture of the bull I took. And how did you do? And let’s see some pic’s!!
Uggggg, not paying attention. Thanks and awesome bull. I have 16 points and have considered putting in for this late hunt. With bulls like that it makes it a little easier to roll the dice and see what happens. apologize if I missed but how many points did you have when you drew the tag?Hey @Buzzy just scroll up in this post... Looking forward to hearing what you do.Buzzy,
He mentioned that in his earlier post as well. He drew with 8 points.
Well I swung for the fences with 3a/c early rifle as my 1st choice and 23 north archery as my 2nd. Somebody has to win that 3a/c tag ?Looking forward to hearing what you do.
I pulled the 12AW Early Rifle Deer last fall with 1 point. You're right, someone has gotta get it. Can't get it if you don't try! It's pretty cool when it happens.Well I swung for the fences with 3a/c early rifle as my 1st choice and 23 north archery as my 2nd. Somebody has to win that 3a/c tag ?

I did, first ever muley. I have a post under the Early Kaibab thread if you want to read a little more, don't want to derail this thread. Point was it was a great time and if I hadn't put in, I'd have never pulled it.Did you tag a buck on that early hunt?
