My son is 12 years old and fairly small for his age. He is wanting his own pair of bins for Christmas because he was sick of not being able to see what we were pursuing on his hunt. I don't want to spend a ton. I was thinking under $400. What, in your opinion would be the best binos for him for under $400?

I bought my nephew Redfields about a year ago whos just getting into hunting. Not terrible, worth checking out.

Contact Doug at Cameraland. He'll stear you in the right direction. They had Zen Ray ED3s for under $350.00. A lot of guys go cheap when it comes to kids and binos, but I wouldn't give a child a bino I wouldn't use myself.

The Leupold Yosemite is where you want to go. These were designed with kids in mind and will close together enough to fit young eyes. The optics are good enough Dad may have to fight with son for them too! Get the 6x30 for young eyes. It is way more important to get them a first binocular that works for them and that they can learn to use.
