Looks like I will be hunting rifle in area 7 with an outfitter (private and public) Opening week is booked... trying to decide if i should go 2nd week or wait for mid/late november. also, may do archery -- is late sept best for that?

If you're going with an outfitter, I'd assume he'd know the area best (earlier vs later). Where we'd hunted early rifle was better as we couldn't go till later and most the elk had moved off the property we'd had a trespass fee on.

Early is usually the best, but after the opening date, it does not matter much. I always say you should go the day after it snows 6 inches. If you can predict that six months in advance, you can really make money (and kill big elk.)

There is a FULL moon that falls in the middle of September and also on the rifle opener.
Just perfect to screw with both rifle and archery seasons.
It may prove beneficial to hunt later or earlier if you bowhunt.
