Best bang for the buck?

I've got a 7mm mag that I'm needing to get a scope for. I don't have a large amount of money to spend but figure I could go upwards of $250. I've looked at a couple different ones including the vortex diamondback 3.5-10x50, and nikon prostaff 3-9x42. They're both a lot nicer than anything I've ever owned. My question is, if you had at most $250 to spend on a scope what kind would you get?

Used Leupold or Nikon Monarch.

A 3X9X40mm VXII Leupold on ebay. I picked one up not long ago for $230. Can't beat the optics or the warranty for that price!!
